Finished Yuu's route. Liked the story of his route better than Ari's but liked Ari better. But now I've playing all routes of Gilded Shadows.
I pulled up Speakeasy, because I backed it in Kickstarter and got my Steam Key. Didn't grab me outright but intros can be a slog even if the story is good. Mostly just got school stuff to focus on right now that really slows down my reading time.
I started a finished Rose of Segunda, 6 routes. 2 hours for the first route, 90 minute or less read for the subsequent routes. I laughed so much! if you like Pride and Prejudice movies/books, you'll like it.
I'm also finishing up Yuu's route in Gilded Shadows which is my favorite visual novel so far ever in the 4 years of reading them. I am enjoyed myself.
And then after I think I'll play Heroine for Hire.
I'm playing Even If Tempest. Bought on sale in the summer but didn't touch until I was on vacation with my Switch.
Long common route where there where there was two events you could choose what you say/do but it literally doesn't matter because it's scripted to fail. Which is frustrating. I like more heavily interactive games. I don't remember who's romanceable so I'm playing blind. But worried her own knight supervisor that watched her grow up is an option! Gross.
Crius the Knight Supervisor
Tyril the Inquisitor
Zenn the Isekai detective
Lucien the 3rd prince
although it's a stretch to call some of these romances. It's similar to Steam Prison where it's focused more on the badass protagonist getting through the narrative. And Anastasia was a great protagonist! In my top 5.
I don't think the title, Even if Tempest, bhad anything to do with anything. Things were chaotic I suppose (tempest). But these things are often not originally English and sometimes they just throw some words together.
Zenn was the one who stole my heart with the most romantic murder ever. Lucien didn't really have time to breathe as a romance on screen, crius got the most stereotypical romance stuff, and Tyril had some but still very little romance scenes.
Taking a break from long otome, so I’m probably going to play some short stuff on I saved as “play later” on my itch.io collection. But once I finish the break, the next thing on my backlog is either Variable Barricade or Piofiore, can’t pick between them....
Reading the Aslan DLC for Love Spell, but really wanting a darker more interactive story. It feels like a kinetic novel at this point. But I want to mark it off my list.
I read the openings for both Collar X Malice and Code: Realize last night to see which one attracted me more first. Code Realize seems more like what I'm in the mood for, protagonist wise, but the first Love Interest I met seems like a rolling eyes moment (Lupin) CxM had a protagonist introduced as having problems with telling people no and also a pretty contrived modern world situation.
When I looked into Variable barricade it seemed like it was just... a rich 17 year old ordered by rich grandpa to live in mansion with 4 other dudes and pick a husband. And they're all way older so it just sounded not ideal. Did it turn out better than I thought?
Wondering if I’m the only one still checking this magazine—I think we may have lost participants because they just stopped using the Fediverse in general. If you see this message a few months from now and want to be active, @ me with @Elevator7009@kbin.run (I swapped instances) and see if I reply. I don't see a point in...
I wasn't playing Otome for many months now. First it was because of life and now it's because of Baldur's Gate 3. But once I finish that game, I do see myself going back to Otome. I still have so many I already purchased and want to read. I especially enjoyed the thread we were doing about trying this year's Otome Jam games because those are ignored on Reddit. 🤷🏻♀️ So these is very little other places to even interact about them..but I do see that there is even less activity than when it started in the summer.
I go in intending to play another LI’s route for a change, but I end up choosing the choices that I know will set me on my favorite’s route all over again....
Sometimes I'm still too in love with the last LI to enjoy being away from them on the new route. That happened to me twice on Gilded Shadows. but I generally don't replay a route, or replay a game for that matter.
A user contacted me and asked me to post these. It's a google drive containing English patched versions of Tokimeki Memorial 1, 2, and 3 for the DS. As well has a patching guide and the patch files themselves.
I prefer to pay for content, 100%, but it gets ridiculous that last decade or so, the shops themselves stop supporting digital content from their servers. So one is not guaranteed the content they bought 'forever'. And that kinda feels like stealing in a way, on their part. At the same time, I think it is close to never that I replay any game. Even my favorite, Dragon Age, I played 5 times each. I still talk about the world and want to see more, but I don't know if I'd ever sit down and play them again all the way through, every quest. So do I really need them to support the content beyond 10 years? probably not. But they are even stopping selling physical content so it's like, I'm losing my right to store a game on my dusty shelf while they max their profits.
Inspired by Bo from Lost Girl being a mature succubus story that still gets steamy and has strong romance. Coming of age story about a succubus figuring out their powers and making decisions about what they care about and what they want their future to be. Navigating difficult parental relationships. And definitely lots of mature steamy sex, romance optional.
Also just kind of haunting epic fantasy hero stories, more like Oathbreaker 1 and 2. But I'm like anti slice of life and super into Dragon Age so I'm biased. :D
I’m curious about the worst route you’ve played. Feel free to answer for “worst” in terms of subjective enjoyment, but also feel free to answer for “worst” in terms of objective analysis—poorly-written, unfitting, bug-ridden, etc.
one of the romantic interests becomes obsessed with MC- I think he's just a meathead that literally can't tell lust from love. Tries to kiss and rape you you no matter what you say or do. She can fight him off and kick him in the balls. And somehow you can get an "let's be together" confession from this creature.
It's insane.
That's the least offensive but still bad route I've completed. I won't bring up the game I've nicknamed "The Rapists of Yoshiwara."
Oh ya, that was my issue with Yune in Steam Prison. I don't care if you're 1000 years old immortal person, you look like a little boy. At least there was zero spice in the route so it didn't get awkward.
Mystic Messenger is the gold standard for mobile for me. I'm tolerating the grind of The Arcana but it's not a game you should focus on 100%. Definitely need something else to play. Collect your dailies in a pile, and then read 2-4 chapters a week.
But more VN are getting adapted to Android on Ichio. So The Arcana is likely the last mainstream ?mobile I'll try
Mine was cinderella phenomenon. I have no recollection of how I stumbled across it. I was obsessed with Ouran high school host club as a teen so it probably looked intriguing to me as second time I'd seen a "reverse harem" on a cover. I played the entire thing within a single weekend. Then... I didn't play another otome game...
Crimson Spires is absolutely an romance visual novel (3 guys, 1 lady) and had walking around interacting.
Echoes of the Fey has walking around the town, clicking on NPCs, and turn based battle mechanics and it's considered a romance visual novel/ otome.
Loren the Amazon Princess has turn based battle mechanics and is consider a romance visual novel.
Boyfriend Dungeon is definitely considered a romantic visual novel but has hack and slash fighting all the way through.
I'm not seeing how it's not a visual novel. I'm no expert of the genre by any mean, but I don't see much difference between Telltale's Walking Dead and the above games I just listed. Can you explain what you see as the distinction?
When I hit reply it automatically puts you as an @ but I can delete it it bothers you. I think I'd rather be tagged because I'm still new to Kbin and wouldn't want to miss someone talking at me.
When I brought up the squares, I was thinking of a VN dev who talked about making a short VN where they used squares for their sprites. And that they were still very successful about connecting to players emotionally because we're so good at anthropomorphism inherently. But it wasn't a romance. But still, there is a romance about birds 🐦 so I'm guessing it clearly stays true.
Animal lover, the boys were sometimes animals because of a curse, but they would transform into 100% human males with a platonic peck from the protagonist. Also good with guys + ears/tails/wings... Eyes I'm on the fence about, but no full blown furry situation.
But I was thinking about some blocky cartoon art like hmmm if we were using Minecraft or Lego graphic styles for romance. I'd be like, Pass.
I think it's originally a different language because the english writing is awkward in that sort of way. I was amused to realize the english voice acting stayed true to the grammatical errors to boot.
3 LIs, all guys, and all mentally insane. I think one is a loving yandere who looks undead and another a violent yandere and the 3rd, Enox, was the only one that I was actually interested in but he's weird too. Possibly they are all supposed to be some version of yandere. The protagonist is a hot chick detective with the skills of a small child playing at detective. I can't tell for sure, this is just a theory, but I think her semi adoptive father has sold her to a weird town that possibly has a cult that wants her for some sort of sex dungeon cult thing. If it ever gets finished, I may read the reviews and see what people say. But as of right now, I'm going to forget about this NSFW craziness.
I personally don't think flashbacks ever go well in a visual novel. I'll take a couple of lines during a "didn't you see I was the villain all along? " Or detective wrapping things up. Everywhere else, come on. Change the story to make it work present time.
