@slurpyslop@kbin.social
slurpyslop,

i just tried it and document.all works

i'm not sure why you're getting a ReferenceError

slurpyslop,

shows what you guys know

i met a girl through her bio last week and it turns out we're so compatible we have the same social security number, birthday and mother's maiden name

slurpyslop,

very clearly the best metal is mercury because it's the only one you can drink at room temperature

slurpyslop,

this is an "i'm rubber you're glue" moment for the ages

slurpyslop,

people whining that obvious criticisms of biden are made "like clockwork" while offering absolutely no counterclaim happen "like fucking clockwork", because goddamn, you're so predictable.

slurpyslop,

circling the wagons and ignoring any criticism of democrats come hell or high water because their only possible source is clandestine trump supporters IS drinking the kool aid

slurpyslop,

i agree

slurpyslop,

you're confusing AI with AGI/GI when they're separate things

we've had AI for a very, very long time

slurpyslop,

tbh if ai ever reaches its full potential, it will probably be responsible for massively reversing global warming, because when the entire population is unemployed, they won't be able to afford to travel, heat their homes, buy products, or eat, all four of which are key contributors to emissions

slurpyslop,

an opinion piece is a form of article 🤓

slurpyslop,

A man walks into a bar and orders three beers.

The bartender brings him the three beers, and the man proceeds to alternately sip one, then the other, then the third, until they're gone.

He then orders three more and the bartender says, "Sir, I know you like them cold, so you can start with one, and I'll bring you a fresh one as soon as you're low."

The man says, "You don't understand. I have two brothers, one in Australia and one in the Ireland. We made a vow to each other that every Saturday night, we'd still drink together. So right now, my brothers have three beers, too, and we're drinking together."

The bartender thinks it's a wonderful tradition, and every week he sets up the guy's three beers. Then one week, the man comes in and orders only two. He drinks them and then orders two more.

The bartender says sadly, "Knowing your tradition, I'd just like to just say that I'm sorry you've lost a brother."

The man replies, "Oh, my brothers are fine. I just quit drinking."

slurpyslop,

Of the violent protests, how many protestors at those specific protests do you imagine would be considered "violent" by the same metric?

slurpyslop,

if there were some figures i could fiddle to fit that narrative, do you think that would mean that cutting down 250 acres of forest would actually be worth it rather than a convenience somebody has gussied up as "necessary" because it would make them a profit?

slurpyslop,

you ask a comedically loaded question, receive one in response, then get mad?

what?

slurpyslop,

isn't a centurion railing some woman against a tree in literally the first episode

slurpyslop,

set up by who?

he was the one in charge

The State Department said that Israel's military campaign in Gaza may have violated international law. (www.nytimes.com)

The Biden administration has concluded it is “reasonable to assess” that Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has violated international law, but has not found specific instances that would justify the withholding of military aid, the State Department told Congress on Friday....

slurpyslop,

Redfalls team is done for sure.

which is wild, because there's clearly a lot of talent there that was just spunked up the wall trying to create a game that any idiot could see right from the outset was conceptually awful

slurpyslop,

if where you draw the line on what counts as integral to a narrative is that arbitrary, why not just toss jedi too?

slurpyslop,

Rogue One at times feels more like Star Wars than the original trilogy, and doesn't have a single Jedi in it.

Your measurement for what counts as "Star Wars" seems pretty arbitrary. 4 would be essentially the same movie even without the presence of any Jedi.

slurpyslop, (edited )

I guess I’ve just seen more movies than you

I guess you just don't really understand Star Wars as well as you think you do 🤷‍♂️

it's an aesthetic and a setting

if you define it as a narrative you can't step outside the first three films

slurpyslop,

Just because you declare it as arbitrary doesn’t mean it’s actually arbitrary.

either you're defining star wars by the films, or you're picking and choosing what really "counts"

you're doing the latter

slurpyslop,

the eu is filled with stories that aren't about jedi or the force

so yeah, you're picking and choosing what counts based on your personal vibes

slurpyslop,

then why not watch one of the many other options with jedi?

slurpyslop,

You really don’t have to keep attacking me you know?

buddy i literally just took what you said and changed a few words around. if it feels like attacking you then maybe do some self reflection?

where have i attacked you?

So is Traveller TTRPG, or Babylon Five, Warhammer 40K, etc., etc.

put literally anything from 40k next to literally anything from star wars and it becomes painfully obvious that they're two distinct properties

you're aware 40k essentially also has the force too, right? i'm not sure what point you're trying to make here

I’m talking the unique points of the world building/lore.

what unique points?

jedi are reskinned samurai, and the force is just a reskinned magic system combined with reskinned buddhism
