I used to use Sway and I found tiling to be useful only when using multiple terminals. Tmux allows me to have tiling functionalities for terminals while having a full desktop environment for all other applications.
I use one application per workspace, and the main window for each application is maximised.
So instead of alt-tab between apps, trying to find the window I’m looking for, I use win-1 to switch to my web browser, knowing that all windows for the browser are always on workspace 1.
If I need multiple terminals, I can use tmux, and copy-paste; or vim with tabs or split, and yank-put.
Works for me, and I’m happy with it. Might not be right for you, or the person next to you, and that’s fine, set your system up to suit your workflow. Just one of the reasons I prefer Linux over Windows (but that’s another discussion for another time) : I can choose my window manager and set it up for my convenience.
