There’s a woman on my airport shuttle working on her laptop and talking on her phone. In the past hour the driver has asked her 3 times to keep her call brief, which he announced at the start of the ride, “Keep your calls brief and your voice low.” On his third request at a passenger stop he came up to her and basically told her to get off the phone or get off the shuttle. She said she’d hang up. He went back to driving and she continued talking on her phone.

Why are some people like this?

I saw & experienced a similar event in Aviation in the 80's. Donald Burr & Frank Lorenzo formed People's Express & NY Air respectively, to establish 'cut-rate,' air travel.

They turned air-travel into a Greyhound Bus experience. It was the 'race to the bottom', that Pan American, Braniff, TWA, Eastern, succumbed to.

The end result, a 'Value Jet' reality. Flown lately? Good luck, you are on your own.

Today, Mark Zuckerberg said,

"I’m sorry for everything you have all been through. No one should have to go through the things that your families have suffered, and this is why we invested so much."

There are three components to a real apology.

  1. Acknowledge the victim’s pain.
  2. Take responsibility for your action which caused the pain.
  3. Commit to specific changes to avoid that action in your future.

Zuckerberg only did part 1.

So let’s stop pretending that he apologized.

This has a very impressive video of the Hamas tunnels under al Shifa hospital. The tunnels got power and water from the hospital, including its solar system & generators. That is a clear abuse of the requirement to not be used to harm "the enemy". Al Shifa had zero right to protection under the Geneva Conventions.
