It is sad to hear that home.social is shutting down. I feel for the 6000 people that now have to pick up and move their accounts, lose their post history, etc. that's totally frustrating.

If you are one of those people that are looking for a new home, I just want to let you know that myself and @cliffwade are more than happy to welcome you to https://allthingstech.social as your new home! We have no plans of going anywhere.

@tokyo_0 @cliffwade God that is very cool and nice of you to make. I think I am going to write something up on this if you don’t mind.

@tokyo_0 @kylewritescode Very cool indeed. Do you have any plans to add any kind of GUI to it to make it a bit more user friendly? As we all know, many people are scared of command line stuff or want a simple point and click option to do these things.

  • tokyo_0,

@cliffwade If someone wanted to write a gui for it they could, of course. The source is on github, and it'd be worth waiting a bit for a couple of features to go in but someone could fork it and create a version with a gui. I actually suspect Mastodon may build this functionality into their code base (as they did with autodeletion) if a tool like this does see decent adoption, and that would be better for everyone. @kylewritescode

    tokyo_0,

@cliffwade So I'm kind of building this with the idea half at the back of my mind that it may all go to waste when Mastodon finally decides to do this themselves. On that basis I'm prioritising building in features that will get people's content moved in various scenarios, rather than the user interface, given that I don't have masses of time to work on it. @kylewritescode
