How do you all keep up with ALL the news about “AI” that is exploding every single day? (If you have sources you trust that work for you, could you please leave them as replies to this message?)
@swade2569 The results ARE interesting. I wonder if it is in part that here on Mastodon / in the Fediverse, many of us are here to get away from all the BS of the larger platforms. And perhaps people here have a higher level of BS detection… and we’ve so recently come off all the hype of “web3”/cryptocurrencies.. that people see “AI” as simply the latest hype to ignore.
As an experiment, I’m going to post the same poll on LinkedIn and maybe Twitter.

@danyork@jpmens unfortunately after decades of work in the field I lived long enough to see AI devolve into a badge for aspirational profiteering, similar to NFT and crypto. I pay little attention to crypto and never paid any to NFT. Can’t wait till the next big thing comes along and true practitioners can get back to work.
To me, the big difference with NFTs and cryptocurrencies is that at least with what is being pushed as “AI”, the average person can actually DO something with it! 🤦♂️
But I, too, look forward to the profiteers and grifters moving on to something else..
(But I think that may take a while!)
