Why does the tosser egg have some sort of donut shaped cereal in the bowl?

Marsupial,
@Marsupial@quokk.au avatar

That makes sense, breakfast food + breakfast food = breakfast.

We’re just that cool!

Really tho? I’d guess because of the dynamics of Australia, whereas else where people are more spread out we all live largely in 2-5 cities.

Melbourne is over 5 million people and the largest city in Australia. We can all gather and talk about the same place and things.

We also speak English so others internationally can engage more easily with our community.

Oh and both work, but we generally use Melbournians.

Only for 40 hours.

So we teach them through other methods.

Fine motor skills can be taught through almost anything, it doesn’t have to be writing.

Good.

Hand writing is lame and causes pain for long periods.

At least in early years education I know they’re being taught them.

As for primary aged children, we should be directing our energy into ensuring they have a wide range of opportunities to do so instead of bemoaning the lost importance of written writing.

But from what I understand, primary is trialling ECE play based learning ideas so I don’t see why they would be doing less of it?

How much handwriting do you expect children to be doing at home? If parents aren’t enabling their children to do arts and crafts etc, they’re not have going to been getting them to do writing either.

Also the ECE stuff isn’t about not learning such and such skill, it’s about teaching methodology. Going from a top-down teacher knows best approach to one that focuses on fostering children’s innate desire to learn. It’s less rote and more autonomy based teaching.

They’re committing genocide against the Papuans, this is merely an apology for being caught.

Nah, decriminalise all drugs sure.

But shit like fentanyl, krokodil, etc. shouldn’t be actively promoted through ease of access.

This really highlights how terrible the dialogue is.

Uhhh didn’t they both do an interview on Oprah?

Such a curse to live an easy life with unimaginable wealth.

He was a shit heap that ruined this country by introducing neoliberalism to our shores. He is directly responsible for the sad state of social affairs today.

I easily rank him worse than Howard, probably the most destructive PM ever imo.

Is it natural if it’s bought on by low wages and high prices making it impossible for most to afford a family?

Does your legal system work on imprisonment or nothing at all? Sounds very extreme.

Here it’s a small fine, but it’s also a day off and takes like 20 mins to go do plus you can get a delicious sausage. So it’s a no brainer that people go vote.

Greece is a pretty failed state from what I’ve seen, wouldn’t read too much into what they don’t do.

As for why compulsory voting, it helps moderate extremism and represents most of society as a whole.

Marsupial,

Also lots of people do work on election day, we offer heaps of time to vote before the day if you can’t get off for an hour to vote.

The world’s 100 worst polluted cities are in Asia — and 83 of them are in just one country (www.cnn.com)

All but one of the 100 cities with the world’s worst air pollution last year were in Asia, according to a new report, with the climate crisis playing a pivotal role in bad air quality that is risking the health of billions of people worldwide....

They invest more in new coal than anywhere else.

They may be adding a lot of green energy, but that’s only a lot in comparison to smaller countries not a lot overall.

Australia for example generates more power in percentage from green energy than China, and we’re doing shit all here.

Well what sort of changes would you like to see?

I work in education, and so I’m interested in getting to know how others want to see the world change.

Oh yeah I’d love to see tech being incorporated more into learning! I learnt more history from playing Civilization 1 when I was 9 than I did in any of my years of primary or secondary schooling.

I’ve also been inspired by the idea of VR as a teaching tool ever since I saw this Simpsons episode.

We have so much better technology options today, yet it feels like we’ve not utilised them at all. Paper books have been replaced with chromebooks, whiteboards by smartboards, and that’s about it. The same function but in a slightly more convenient form, such wasted potential.
