It's funny to look back at stuff that used to be novel and is often still beloved but kind of...

So 90% of Chrono Trigger's endings are minor variations and not worth seeing...but HAVING more than like 2 endings was very ground breaking.

I don't dislike the game because of it, but it's very much the "lmao slide show" stuff Fallout gets made fun of for but actually lower stakes. Still, kind of fun to see.

Fallout "realistic radiation" mod and it just spawns you dead in the middle of the map and everyone else and everything is also dead because radiation doesn't make giant scorpions

One of the things that saddens me is digging into the latest 'hit' merge games and realizing that they've evolved into slightly disguised digital gambling games.

Pay money (energy) to roll dice (click generators) make number go up (progression track). All innovation gets closer to this loop.

Whatever was interesting about Triple Town has been surgically removed in order to focus everything on feeding the money god.

@Danc Yeah it's not mentioned enough but at high level Cookie Crush (or whatever) gives you random "technically" possible levels that are functionally impossible much of the time, so you either need insane luck (at limited stamina) or paid boosts to get past certain pressure points.

Merge games might be worse if you mean what I think bc just adding one new thing to get doubles the games' length, never seen one of those not get gross super fast. Sucks bc the idle genre was fun for a while
