@MsHearthWitch yes!! literally every human brain works this way. i am willing to bet my whole bank account that this person has had that experience online on some other website in their personal life. so idk why they think it's a good idea here. ugggh!
@dyani People always think they're the exception. That the information on THEIR page is so important and special that SURELY ppl will read it carefully and thoroughly.
@dyani I dunno if you are going out and interacting with humans in real life these days but if so, I would try and find a local tea importer and see if they have any scheduled black tea tastings. If there are local tea shops, they might have them too.
in those cases people are trying to give you high-quality stuff (because they want your future business) AND you can explain what you’re tasting & have them guide you towards something you might like. Much like a cheesemonger.
@dyani re country: almost all tea comes from China or India and both countries produce excellent stuff if you’re willing to pay for it. A lot like fancy coffee.
Any other autistic kin struggle with speech and articulation when they were little?
I'm recording an instructional voice-over today and my mom just told me I used to have a lisp when I was little. That's news to me!
I definitely notice sludgy articulation around L and S sound as an adult. Outside of voice over recording, I could not care less about my articulation. But it is interesting!
@dyani
As someone who invested a lot of time in improving their enunciation when singing, I think that's a human universal, rather than an autistic thing.
I also have a lisp, and that's probably the 'tism, but proper singing enunciation is taught in every singing or vocal class and is usually only improved with lots of practice. @benjamincox@dave@actuallyautistic
At the park today I saw another girl sitting having a snack and drink while reading on her own. But she didn't have any earbuds or headphones. And there were TWO DUELING ICE CREAM TRUCKS driving around the park. How was she coping??? 🫡
@MsHearthWitch yeah! I think that's why I have been angry. Because he caused a harmful situation in which I had to become this way, with no choice. 🤷🏻♀️
In light of covid, I wish my city (or any city really) had outdoor event spaces for medium-big sized cons. With built-in shade, pre-planned layouts with trash cans, maybe some counter tops, maybe half walls to create rows, drinking fountains, bathrooms, electrical outlets, etc.
Not just a big park where they shove a bunch of tents!
@dyani I had a regular hot tub when I was growing up and I miss it SO much. Really really nice for the back. And in the summer we'd kill the heat and just have a nice jet room-temp tub.
I am absolutely savoring the last few cold weather days. Opening all the windows to make it as cold as possible inside, putting on my comfy sweatshirt and leggings, making hot tea. I don't want it to end 😭
@MsHearthWitch@dyani 🤝 I hate summer, too 😭 It last used to be okay and tolerable like, 20-25+ years ago? Now, I'm just feeling more miserable every year. Also reverse SAD?? Is this a thing?? Because d*mn yeah. I feel best in colder weather, and I don't even mind the darkness so much these days. Autumn can't come soon enough 😭
I can tell when I need to lower the volume of something I'm listening to when I feel a kind of tightening in my ear muscles, and/or ringing in my ears, or a slight feeling of stress coming in from my environment.
I also just try to remember to always proactively lower the volume a couple ticks from what i first set it at, to prevent all those sensations.
What are the signs for you that things are a little too loud?
