Instead of the "Woke Mind Virus" I think Silicon Valley CEOs have been infected with the "Broke Mind Virus".

They seem to be all-in on driving folks salaries down with layoffs and bone-headed executive decisions.

@jonsagara It's frustrating that it is tied to UrlHelper :\

That seems like it should be on a more accessible class so that folks can use it in Minimal APIs, ASP.NET Core MVC, and Razor Pages.

@bradwestness the issue is more on the query side. You need quiet constructs that aren't a pain in the butt. I'm writing a blog post about it.

Spent the morning answering a #JetBrains #dotnet blog reader's question about filtering on a #JSON collection using #EFCore and #sql

Any folks have some thoughts? It turns out this is such a new use case that there isn't query support yet for arrays through LINQ.

Playing Chivalry II and it shouldn't be this fun to get your head lopped off.

Redfall won't win any awards, but it's not as terrible as critics make it out to be (at least on PC). It's like a 6/7 out of 10 game. Just fine for some mindless fun.

@andreybutov a $70 6/10 seems like a bad deal for consumers.

There must be something useful here...

thoughts @khalidabuhakmeh ?

I'm mostly re-using some Perla bits and re-injecting the import map manually (it also needs to escape @ chars in the import map), but I'm sure there might be better ways within aspnet to automatize this stuff, like maybe tag helpers that read the importmap?

@angelmunoz a tag helper makes a lot of sense. I will say, there's no need to be stingy with them. Having one in the layout is fine since resources only get loaded on import.

@angelmunoz btw, how do you like fleet. Any feedback I could give to the team?

@boiglenoight I agree. It's hard to imagine that if Xbox had the PS catalogue that it wouldn't do better and customers wouldn't be happier.

Not that I want to give Microsoft any advice, but if Phil Spencer is saying people won't switch to XBOX because of digital libraries, then a technique to get folks to switch over would be to make whole that digital library when buying a new XBOX.

There a first-party exclusives but there are a lot that aren't.

If folks could retain 80% of their library then it would make it more appealing.

If Apple ever wanted to build a search engine, now would be the time to do it.

While search companies are breaching the contract they have with content creators, Apple can counter-program the fad and bring a quality experience back to search.

🌶️ Hot Friday Take: should make Task transparent and let you async/await without it contaminating the entire codebase.

This would be a breaking change, but make it easier for folks coming from other languages. Maybe in .NET 37

khalidabuhakmeh,
@khalidabuhakmeh@mastodon.social avatar

@kkukshtel @filipw @KirillOsenkov they can at the project level. Same way you can reference a C# project in an F# project.

@kkukshtel @filipw @KirillOsenkov I guess a better example of what you're thinking about would be XAML and Razor.

@kkukshtel @patriksvensson @KirillOsenkov @filipw @xoofx If you like DSLs you should check out Kotlin. You can literally write a custom language on top of Kotlin without any special magic.

Here's an example where someone wrote a SQL DSL using Kotlin. https://www.baeldung.com/kotlin/dsl

@KirillOsenkov @kkukshtel @patriksvensson @filipw @xoofx MPS is an "XTREME!" product. It's used by some interesting customers to build very very very custom DSLs for some very niche situations.

It's not for everyone.
