Went for an overdue MTB ride on the rocky trails around the foothills east of Sacramento for #WorldBicyclingDay.

Apparently it was also #FallOffYourBicycle day when one of said rocks wasn’t firmly anchored in the dirt, and rolled over sideways along with the front tire. I rolled over the other way.

Ah, well. No permanent damage done, and no jackrabbits nearby to snicker at me.

Back yard Super Bloom in progress!

The L.A. basin finally gets a reprieve from May Gray on this Memorial Day. Sunshine really opens up these sensitive flowers.

Judging from the number of unopened buds, it could be a very showy week if the weather cooperates.

At last the screws are right in their spaces and the water + power turned on. The little little R2 unit proved more than capable.

Brought home some new dog toys from Costco today. I unboxed them and tossed them around the kitchen.

Stella promptly gathered them up, one at a time, and carried them onto the dog bed in the family room. She took one upstairs and put it in her nighttime sleeping spot. She came back downstairs and settled in for some rest among the remainder.

Smarty Pants dog, this one. Ten years old, poor eyesight and questionable motor skills can’t stop a determined Pomona Street Dog!

    The California poppies are finally blooming on the hillside. We planted mostly natives this time around, and with no big dogs to rip up the landscaping we scattered poppy seeds in the early spring.

    Most of the green carpet here is poppy plants, with a few sages and yellow daisies visible.

    Within a week or two we’ll have our own little SuperBloom. Hopefully they reseed well for next year too.
