Well we had a video call with the family who applied to look after Cinnamon when we go away in July, they seem lovely, one child and he’s 12 and loves animals. The couple can work from home and take some time off to do stuff with the boy. They seemed very excited about coming to Pembrokeshire. So that’s all sorted, one less think to worry about

This morning, I took my friend (I’ll call her Mozart, since she’s a musician) to the clinic and pharmacy. Her mobility is super challenging these days and she has almost zero strength. It took 3 of us to help her navigate the stairs. She remains chatty and positive and I focused on being supportive and practical. I’ll help her request a handicapped placard later today so we don’t have to park illegally again. Also, f*%# … I am so worried for her.

I just had a shower. I usually only have a shower if there is no bathtub available, but I was very dirty and I didn’t want to sit in a puddle of my own grime. The shower went from hot to cold to hot again, confirming my belief that they are treacherous and not to be trusted

Just put a layer of crushed seashells on top of the topsoil in our new raised herb bed, it looks smashing! Really pleased with how the garden’s looking right now. Tom has devoted his afternoon to scarifying the lawn while I’ve been weeding and potting up. One enormous weed came free after much digging and tugging very suddenly, showering me with dirt which has immediately clung to the layer of sun cream on my arms and chest. I look very grimy indeed. Time for a shower!

I've mentioned that I'm getting a new boss, and new boss is not going to be replacing old boss directly - they'll be going into a newly created role (because of an organisational restructure).

The proposed job description has been sent around our team for feedback before the vacancy is published. Would it be wrong for me to suggest that a key responsibility for this new role is:

"Let the quality improvement person get on with their job, leave them alone, and stop inviting them to fucking meetings all the time"

I may have mentioned this before, but my best friend consumes no news. Zero. Not from TV, radio, internet news sites, newspapers… she doesn’t use social media. The other day she asked who the Prime Minister is right now. I reminded her that this a basic piece of information medics check you can remember to see if you may have a brain injury. I don’t know if I’m appalled by or envious of her stance. It’s a conscious decision, and she says it brings her happiness

Just finished my most recent read (well, listen in this case): Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. Absolutely loved it, so much heart - 5/5 for me.

On to my next read: The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune.

One of the weirdest things to me as an adult immigrant to the U.S. is this country can be so prudish about all the wrong things (‘F bombs??’ wtf ahahaha) and not enough about the things that matter (actual bombs, and actual guns)
