Peel Road @ Kuala Lumpur, famous for its chinese-style nasi lemak shop but the whole street is filled with great food options. The kopitiam occupying the corner shop is fully halal/muslim-friendly and hosts a good selection of Malay, chinese and Indian food stalls.

A closer look at the corner shop, revealing many stalls operating inside a restaurant, with stall owners preparing food and washing dishes. The old building has old and tattered wooden window panes. On the rooftop, someone has grown various ornamental plants and small trees.

I just realised the irony that while KL people are buying up landed property in Semenyih to enjoy the countryside lifestyle, my friend who grew up in an orchard in Semenyih actually bought an apartment near KL to escape the countryside.

Invested in the Tapo ecosystem simply because it’s wayy cheaper. The webcam is only 58 ringgit while the smart plug and bulb 30 ringgit each

Saw a turtle crossing a road with fast-moving cars today.

Couldn’t stop the car to help it unfortunately, hope that it safely crossed the road without being crushed by cars.

@irfan If you want a long-living pet that can probably outlive you, consider a large parrot. (Don’t actually, cuz apparently parrots outlasting their owners by a couple of decades is not uncommon & their kids ended up having to take care of the parrots)

The huge tree (around 5 stories tall?) right opposite my apartment window just came crashing down in the rain. Not sure if anybody was hurt (I think not because it’s raining heavily so few ppl are outside).

People kept burning rubbish right under that particular tree every day, so the tree was already half dead with burnt & hollowed trunk.

@voyager I hope they think twice... sure, some of us speak cantonese here and the food is great, but they'll not be getting married here and much of the population is ultra religious and conservative.

Or maybe it's just a gimmick for content.

I found this substance at the grocery store marked “gelatine halal sheets (vegetarian)” with no other information. They are transparent yellow-tinted thin sheets that are hard to snap and shatter a little when you do. I’ve dissolved about 10–15 grams in about 200 grams of stock and they do seem to be thickening it a little when left to cool. Any idea what this could be other than the gelatine I suspect it is?
