We (webbies) still don't have a CSS selector that can target the text content yet, do we?

(I'm hoping I'm wrong…)

@CoopCoding not the article, but I got into the programme in 2021: https://remysharp.com/2021/07/01/me-and-tinnitus-entry-1 (sadly didn't work for me, partially made it worse, but I think it settled after a few months).

I need to post again about tinnitus actually. Got some sort of progress.

Does anyone use MDN's update tool? https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/plus/updates - only for me it seems like either every browser/program stopped updating around Sept 2023, or the data has stopped.

Any ideas? (oh, and cc @MDN )

A use for "ai" I daydreamed about this morning: a sensor that fits in your shoe that sends your step timing to a device (like a phone) which uses that for BPM and creates unlimited generative music for runners.

@dorward i doubt if it would get the accuracy in sync, but it would be a useful start (not that I'm an apple user)

Always the goal: to make my Gameboy an absolute ballache to carry around to play.

What I like about this is the video is done with a Pico (and PIO). Id like to get sound and joypad working next (though can't decide on usb joypad or just wired directly in - which is easier).

Did "share your notes and highlights" vanish from goodreads? I know the app is crap, but removing working features...

Very pleased with this fix last night: https://remysharp.com/tif/2024-03-27-cricut

I'd been eyeing up cricut cutters for a few years now, never quite able to justify the cost for something that's not quite my bag.

Sunday I found a broken Cricut Explorer Air 2, no power, doesn't work - £35 incl. postage.

Arrived this evening.

An hour later, I've fixed it.

Dead chuffed.

The DC barrel jack had been torn out of the PCB. Boat loads of screws and some careful soldering and we're back in business.

problem now: no idea how to use it!

Duck-duck-ahoy!

rem,
@rem@front-end.social avatar

@JonGretar ha, I'd not considered that at all. No originally, way back, it was for gameboy cart stickers (over the top I know!)

@ben I think I read that there was a tool that was web based, but they moved to bundled offline. I'd love it if it was something like gcode that it ran off of (not looked at all though)

Monolith is a CLI for saving complete web pages as a single HTML file

@changelog @zachleat I very much doubt it still works (though it might), but here's the same thing, nearly a decade ago: https://github.com/remy/inliner 😆 it's cool to see the same ideas persist 👍

You want to sell some physical products, and don't want to be shafted by fees (::cough:: etsy), what service (or even self-hosted product) would you recommend?

rem,
@rem@front-end.social avatar

@b4ux1t3 cheers, didn't even realise Kofi did sales. My volume would be similar in extremely low volume.

Observation: I absolutely wouldn't build a long term project using Nextjs without having full time development resource able to perpetually support the project.

Why? The API surface changes way too much and often.

A project like JS Bin, 16 years old, would have required constant support ALL of the time to keep it running.

Instead, it used express, which is a relatively "basic" pattern, but the complexity hasn't changed.

I enjoy Next for quick and dirty, but decade+… I don't think so.

rem,
@rem@front-end.social avatar

@benschwarz exactly this. I was just looking at the jsbin source, and although the authored code (i.e. my stuff) is tricky and old, the routing system and the framework to run the server is just… as I'd expect even after not looking at it for years and I know it still runs.

rem,
@rem@front-end.social avatar

@pinchito @mcollina well aware and that's perfect for long lived projects.

So glad I finally got a 3D print camera set up, all the faffing with a raspberry pi zero (2), 3d prints, special software - now I have the glory of:…

A gloomy dark picture.

When I could just look under desk…

Shit.

Anyone have a Prusa MK3.5 (the upgraded with the xBuddy board)? Question (that I can't see to find the answer to) - does the USBC give out 5v? (only mine doesn't, though I can see voltage on the D+ lines…)

Is there a Duolingo like app/thing for British sign language?

rem,

@Marcus lingvano - end up paying subscriber and am 123 days in.

@Marcus I'm enjoying it. The fact that I'm 123 days in, I think speaks for itself (or otherwise: yes, recommend)
