Peak cringe of the post-COVID era was watching two petulant man-child billionaires, drunk on ego, publicly chest-thumping about cage fighting each other.
After just more than two months in the new house, I'm finally in the home stretch of setting up my living/working space the way I want it. Still haven't done much/any decorating, but the functional pieces are nearly all in place (just ordered the last two pieces of furniture/storage/organization I'll need for at least a while).
That might seem like a long time to some of y'all, but I think it's the fastest I've ever been set up 🫠...
Hey Mastodon - I'm doing a little "research" for my upcoming talk with @DeepDishSwift.
What's some "one line" advice you that resonates with you? Stuff like "do what you love" or "hustle!" or "don't love a your job; it won't love you back" -- what are the one liners that have really suck with you when it comes to work, life, love etc?
I swear, we are still talking about this platform stuff all wrong. There is absolutely no comparison between my mastodon engagements and those anywhere else. People here are just far more interested in engaging people and ideas than any other site where the biggest activity seems to be following celebrity accounts and popular influencers discussing very little. It’s a completely different kind of experience.
@shoq 100% this. Most of my output from my rare visits to Threads in the past few months has been words to the effect of, "WOW but this place is a toxic cesspit. I'll be over on Mastodon if you need me."
Anyone using a base model (8 gb ram, 256mb SSD) #M2#MacMini for music production, specifically Ableton Live? Internet says it is up to the task but I'd rather hear it from someone directly.
My almost ten-year-old PC is dying and I hope to revive it but as plan B, I see that the Mac Mini is on sale for $499 right now and I'm pretty sure any PC I bought for that much would be considerably less potent as a music production PC. (You can also convince me I'm wrong about that if you are inclined.)
@etherdiver I am able to run VCV and Ableton Lite on my 2019 MacBook Air (Intel CPU, not the new chip) without trouble, as long as I don't have too much else going on (like Firefox with my standard 200 open tabs). It has 16 GB of RAM, though, and I don't know the degree to which your experience will be different with half the RAM and an 8x faster CPU.
Check the return policy - you could always get the thing, see how it performs under fire, and bring it back if it falls short.
