Today’s dumb design piece that looks nice…

This adds serious complexity to the swipe up to go home gesture that everyone uses 1000 times a day. (Which already has the swipe up slowly to switch apps variant)

It would be complicated to trigger and for what? For yet another widget space?

You have swiping left, swiping down from the left and in any screen and you want more spaces & gestures to add widgets?

I know, I know, I arrived late… but if it’s any consolation, I haven’t looked back since.

Happy 40th Mac.

To celebrate, yesterday I ordered all the Lego pieces necessary to build a classic 1984 Macintosh.

    I feel you, if you work by yourself and don’t need a workspace saving locally now feels secondary.

    As our customers needs evolve and change we want to prioritize the functionalities that are most used.

    Lots of users want to save to their workspaces rather than locally since they work collaboratively.

    Defining primary and secondary user flows is one of the things we take our time to evaluate. Sometimes these changes are needed, still hard to make the best call though.

    If a screen in your business is asking me to tip, you’re making sure I’m not tipping anything.

    Just provide a better than expected service… and I’ll be happy to provide better than expected money.

    I won’t be forced to tip under pressure.

    Small blip in new-episode crawling this afternoon. Sorry about that!

    Fixed now — episodes should roll in over the next hour or so.

    webjac,
    @webjac@mastodon.social avatar

    @overcastfm hey, how can I update the artwork of my podcast in Overcast? The image the app is showing is over 2 years old. I have tried changing it on the feed and all other podcast apps get the new one except overcast. HALP 🥺

    Bcc: @marcoarment

    webjac,
    @webjac@mastodon.social avatar

    @overcastfm it’s called “Oh Fork it” this is the RSS

    https://anchor.fm/s/92dba78/podcast/rss

    And the Apple directory link in case it helps https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/oh-fork-it/id1455665330?i=1000624657619

    It’s odd… the podcast image is OK. But on the episodes the image that overcast shows it’s the old one. Like it’s been cached since forever.

    Overcast is the only app where the old image is shown, other podcasts apps show it fine. I’m guessing some sort of cache issue?

    webjac,
    @webjac@mastodon.social avatar

    @overcastfm Hello there.

    I did a check on the feed (all JPG and PNG files) and all of them link to the new logo. I don't think the old image is anywhere on the feed.

    https://www.rssboard.org/rss-validator/check.cgi?url=https%3A%2F%2Fanchor.fm%2Fs%2F92dba78%2Fpodcast%2Frss

    No other podcast app shows the old image still. Could it be a cache thing on your side? Is it possible to take a look?

    This is the podcast feed: https://anchor.fm/s/92dba78/podcast/rss

    For reference the new image (and correct one) is https://d3t3ozftmdmh3i.cloudfront.net/staging/podcast_uploaded_nologo/1439918/1439918-1698160407556-42a8d373c986a.jpg

    And the old one is attached to this post

    Any recommendations for good (looking) desk/computer speakers? 🔊

    I’m currently using my laptop’s built in speakers for audio and an OG HomePod for music, but it’s so inconvenient to use.

    @rafa good… looking don’t have anything just yet.

    Good sounding… I’ve got the Presonus Eris (3.5 due to space) and they sound perfect. They are monitors so keep that in mind.

    A useful feature I added to Dato (my menu bar calendar app) recently:

    You can create exclusion rules. So if the event title matches a certain pattern (including regex), it would be excluded from Dato.
