I'm sure this will be lucrative for them. But what a huge violation of the trust users put in platforms like those -- especially ones that exist for so long and talk big game about "making the web a better place."

There's a bugfix release (v0.15.1) coming soon. This will patch a few long-living issues and one annoying bug introduced in the last release, where the Subscribers page doesn't show the correct date that someone subscribed to your blog.

I wanted to get SMTP support (https://writefreely.org/tasks/905) added before releasing #WriteFreely v0.15, but I can't access the machine I was developing it on to finish it up.

So unfortunately, for this release we'll only have Mailgun support. But I'll get SMTP support in the following release, so you can use any email provider you want to send newsletters, password reset emails, etc.

If you run your WF instance with the -debug flag, it should show the full ActivityPub request data and any response in the application logs..

@ruud Do you have the logs from the WriteFreely side when you sent that? Even without the -debug flag, it should help explain why that Lemmy request didn't work.

(you can also publish those as a Draft post in WF and send the post URL if you don't want to share via the blog.)

@liaizon I think at least viewing and following a WF blog from Lemmy. The report I got said they couldn't load a blog from within Lemmy at all.

I'm wrapping up newsletter / email support in today (https://github.com/writefreely/writefreely/pull/478).

This is pretty big, both as a new distribution channel for writers and the underlying structure needed for basic things like password resetting.

Building off of this, there will be a new Subscribers page in that shows both email subscribers and fediverse followers for your blogs. If you've used @write_as before, you've seen this in action!
