My "SemVer in Rust" talk from @fosdem is now available as a blog post!
I used the "annotated talk" format pioneered by @simon to make it easy to skim the material, skip ahead, and jump between the written post and the video.
I've come to the realization that I'm never going to sit down and watch all the #FOSDEM talks that I wanted to see, but missed, in Brussels. So, I went through my FOSDEM app, downloaded the video tracks for all the talks, and converted them to mp3. Now I have podcast content for my daily commute... 24 talks... should take about 4 weeks to get through them all. FOSDEM is amazing, but it really should be longer than 2 days. #FOSDEM2024
Last week 40+ Codethings descended on Brussels for #FOSDEM2024. The team were able to connect with a wide range of other software engineers and deepen their knowledge on the new developments in technology.
A quick summary of FOSDEM 2024 and the very productive Hackathon we had right afterwards! :postmarketos:
> There is a lot coming up, you can expect to read more in blog posts and merge requests in the next weeks and months. That being said, we wanted to share some of the highlights, especially for the people supporting us. Without you, this would have been significantly harder to organise.
🎙️ Compared to last year, we decided to do the podcast inside the cafeteria instead of outside, and on Sunday instead of Saturday. Twice the amount of FOSDEM days to talk about, and with more people talking in the background. Enjoy!
I would love to see open podcast projects such as @AntennaPod and @kasts integrate with a FOSS, decentralized protocol like ActivityPub for efficient podcast syncing between platforms. Does such a thing exist now?
@beunice@AntennaPod We're already working on this. Both #AntennaPod and #Kasts are involved in openpodcastapi.org together with other projects like #FunkWhale It's still in the process of specification at the moment.
My #FOSDEM talk has been released!
It's about the @TinyGo smartwatch that I've been working on, including how I made testing the firmware as simple as "go run" and how I've made the display as fast as I could.
Diese Woche fanden mit der #FOSDEM und dem #CfgMgmtCamp gleich zwei Konferenzen statt. Wir waren für euch vor Ort und besprechen in der neuen #FocusOnLinux Episode die Highlights:
Am I weird that I want to put together a #FOSDEM2024 “TV Show” on my Plex server, then organize the rooms into “seasons” to catch up on interesting ones I missed? 😅
📢 My talk "How I've Built a Web Frontend for a Federated Communication Tool with #Brython" from the #Python devroom at #FOSDEM2024 has just been released! Thanks to everyone who attended and a special shoutout to the #FOSDEM organization team for their incredible work. Check it out here:
since it's half a week ago now i can finally spill the beans and get cancelled
my #fosdem2024 highlight was definitely when @cwebber went through the lower hall of building H on sunday afternoon, and walked right past @Gargron and the Mastodon stand
Now that we're all back and recovering from FOSDEM, we'd love to know two things: what were your favorite talks, and just as importantly, what were your favorite moments in between the talks? 🤔
(And no, those talks and moments don't have to be Thunderbird related! This is not a shameless ploy for attention, we promise. We'll be MUCH more obvious about those! 😜 💙 )
