@seachanger heat dissipation is an issue, and most solar cells + wiring will wear out faster with repeated flexing. One fatigued bit of metal breaks among many, ruins the whole thing. I'm trying to come up with something for the #UmbrellaBike roof panel, that backing needs to be light and stiff, and I'm thinking you might want to remove / adjust it to optimally charge while the rest is parked in the shade. Most charging would not be while riding, unless I had a solar hat and cloak for myself
@seachanger@enobacon I feel like a baseball cap brim is an optimal hat mounting point for a solar panel. 🤔 The curve (if any) is built in, and not usually flexed repeatedly during use.
@mivox@seachanger a shallow cone would likely be the best solar collector and shade vs stiffness + circulation, as long as the headband/fitment is moving heat away from your head. A smaller brim or flat brim would be shaded by your head sometimes. Many panels can flex, but best for durability is to do it just once and hold it there.
