If Disney World fireworks are representative of the rest of the US, I can see why you have such a firework culture. Those things aren’t fireworks, those are warheads 😳
@stroughtonsmith last time at Disney World during a firework show, there was a group of people from the Netherlands behind me. They were loosing their minds during the show. I turned around to acknowledge their excitement and one of them said ~”There is nothing like this back home.”
I still think about their excitement from time to time 😌
@stroughtonsmith they really are, I got to go behind the scenes at a show in Wisconsin once, the bigger shells were 16” (41cm) in diameter and filled the sky when launched
@stroughtonsmith Honestly I never thought about fireworks being different around the globe but it makes sense. I grew up in DC so over the top firework displays are just common fare for me. What are they like in Ireland?
@stroughtonsmith When I was in high school, we’d watch the fireworks in Washington, DC. They have some monster shells — and at the time, we could sit actually fairly close to the launchers. Some would completely fill your field of view, and you could feel your chest rattle.
@stroughtonsmith there’s nothing quite like watching drunk adults shoot fireworks off a folding table, seeing it flex downward with each blast, and thinking “I’m in danger.”
