Invest in service industries that do things only humans can do in the physical world.

Or, if you’re all in on AI taking over the world, invest in companies that will be making that AI technology and hope the AI doesn’t just steal all your money in the future 🤪

@sindresorhus My fallback plan if I ever left tech has always been to become a social worker or therapist, but it's even more given how much society is going to need it in that case.

@sindresorhus Are there knowledge worker jobs that would be profitable at $1/hr but not profitable at minimum wage? I think we're going to find out.

@sindresorhus support unions and do anything you can to encourage unionization in your work place. Without unions, the film industry would have completely devalued the labor of actors and writers, even though no one wants to watch soulless films written by AI with AI actors. Human engineers will always be better than AI at certain tasks, but the tech industry will likely care about quality as much as the film industry, and we are not united enough to defend our labor force from AGI.
