@shekinahcancook Absolutely 💯
The kid should get a medal, but sadly, he has probably already been punished 😔

“The president’s son faces...”
“President Biden faces...”

Three questions I have:

  1. What does the person(s) who stole the laptop face?

  2. Why does this headline (and others) bring up Trump?
    (ah- perhaps they think that somehow this trial is equivocal to Trump’s?)

  3. Do Republicans (and the media) really think this will distract from Trump’s recent 34-count felony conviction and his upcoming trials?

Canada does not allow convicted felons into their country whereas the U.S. lets them become president. Go figure.

Nothing but our vote will keep a felon out of office in the U.S.

So freaking vote.

When you hear Republicans calling the trial an “injustice,” or saying that it was a “political prosecution” or that the U.S. is a “banana republic”—

Remember that 12 ordinary citizens found guilty.

He was held accountable by a “jury of his peers,” which is how the U.S. justice system is supposed to work.

dalfen,
@dalfen@mstdn.social avatar

To say otherwise undermines the U.S. justice / legal system.

Nick Akerman (“former assistant special Watergate prosecution”) said that he knew would be found guilty because of two “smoking guns”—

He also thinks that Trump will get jail time (whether or not he serves it).

I bet the media will give him more air time now that he is a convicted felon.

(just sayin)

’s sentencing will happen July 11.

A Bloomberg commentator just said, “Well, he’s a first-time felon…” implying that he might not get a harsh sentence.

Thoughts?

I don’t think he will be found guilty (I know, I hate it bc I can’t stand him).

I’m not being negative. I’m being pragmatic.

I read the jury instructions.

With the disclaimer that this is absolutely not a prediction of what the jury will do, not much in the jury instructions change what I had to say here:

https://terikanefield.com/wheres-the-beef-trumps-manhattan-criminal-case-and-some-mind-bending-legal-puzzles/

I wrote about predicate crimes for predicate crimes.

The predicate crime for falsification of business records is
NEW YORK ELECTION LAW § 17-152 PREDICATE.

The jury gets three possible predicate crimes for 17-152.

@Teri_Kanefield Oh I just found the jury instructions in one of your posts. I appreciate the link and your response.

It seems that there is high bar to find him guilty, then (on any of the counts).

(I hate to say that.)
