Recently picket up this old Thinkpad T30 for 2 bucks at a local flea market. Its a bit scratched up and the battery is more or less dead but everything else is working fine. Its Pentium 4M, 1gb of ram and 40gb hdd might be a bit overkill for win2k but its really amazing. Running Firefox 13 and a webone proxy to deal with ssl...
Hi, first time posting on lemmy, I hope yall will enjoy my late grandfather's happy lil Mac Plus! Maxed out at 4MB of RAM and modded with power through SCSI and a low rpm fan. That's a fully working ImageWriter on the left. :)
The first computer I ever worked on had 8KB of core memory. It was an old Digital Equipment Corporation pdp-8/e. I loved that machine and its open face tale drives and teletype with paper tape punch and reader and card reader.
After taking that pic, I got done cleaning the CBM. The entire Body, Board and keys all look a lot better now and im glad to say that after all of that, it turned on no problem as well! (Before and after)...

Wanted to get back into the DOS era of software and games (it’s what I grew up on.) I would have preferred something older, but I ended up with a Slot 1 Pentium III/500. Fortunately it has an ISA slot so all the truly DOS friendly sound cards....
Were there any 8-bit era computers that had a 3.5" floppy? They probably would have run CP/M. I do have an apple IIC+, but I also would like some sort of Z80 machine.
