Morrisons used to do “buy as many eggs as you like”. It was ace! I haven’t been in there for a while so don’t know if they’ve stopped. But basically you could take a box and take as many eggs as you liked.

They were near the fruit and veg rather than with the other eggs (in Bedford, anyway).

Hopefully they’re still doing this.

The 3DS had backward compatibility with physical DS games. The Wii U had backward compatibility with Wii games (the Wii could also play GameCube games). No surprises here - especially if they are going to call it “Switch 2” I’d have been surprised if it wasn’t compatible.

3DS cartridges had an extra notch on them to stop them being inserted into a DS. Probably we’ll get something similar here or there will be some software mechanism to stop attempts to run the new games on the old system.

True, but the Switch was a big rethink so retaining backwards compatibility would have been tricky.

I found one like that a while back, can’t for the life of me remember where and I didn’t take a photo.

I’d love to get a job at one of these display board companies (or the local IT if they do it themselves), and tell them I can save them thousands.

A Pi Zero 2W, TFTP boot, you’ve saved masses of hardware cost and saved yourself a Windows licence.

Replicate that for all the displays over all the stores, done.

Yeah, same. I set it up as it looked like the best way to control my inverter - I wanted to set it to charge from the grid when electricity was free, and discharge during saving sessions without having to do it manually. I then expanded to trying to calculate how much charge I needed overnight in cheap rate based on the solar forecast for the next day…

Anyway, I now have everything on it and keep thinking of things to add.

END-OF-LIFE FOR Z80 CPU AND PERIPHERALS ANNOUNCED (hackaday.com)

What this effectively means is that after just under 48 years since its launch in 1976, the Zilog Z80 will no longer be available for sale as discrete components, which is likely to primarily impact hobbyists and people who are trying to keep retro systems going. This does not mean that it’s the end of the road for Z80,...

I don’t know what a shield TV is, but I quite like the Roku streaming sticks. They work flawlessly for me, and you can cast to them from another device.

Looks like that was just credential stuffing, though, not an actual vulnerability. Unique passwords and 2FA are enough to stop your account being compromised. They’ve been good enough to refund anything spent as a result of this. There have been far worse breaches and less reasonable companies, although I understand any concern after this sort of thing is reported.

This is a legitimate concern.

I don’t think I’ve ever used Dear to start an email; always Hi for as long as I remember.

I don’t like To, it always seems like a command rather than a greeting. I write it on cards and stuff but it always leaves a niggling feeling of wrongness.

If it calls for 200g of aubergine, then you can weigh that at the shop… It’s more convenient at that end, and you can get the right amount.
