The entire purpose of Juneteenth is because of that disparity.
This is a weird comparison my dude.
Philly wanting to celebrate the day the declaration was approved in a closed session makes sense, but the 4th has been the day since the beginning. It’s when it was approved and made official.
I mean, why wouldn’t they be? They’re most likely used to drops in temperature when the weather clouds over, so I’m not surprised they barely registered a solar eclipse.
I was lucky enough to be close enough to Clearwater to catch a game this year (first time ever seeing a Spring training game!) and it was a fun time. Wheeler looked great, but nobody else really shone brightly.
I’m very optimistic about Rojas’ future and I hope they don’t send him down. I’m even warming a bit on Jake Cave. Merrifield is an interesting addition, but I’m skeptical of his age. Regardless, not having Schwarber in the field should put them in a good spot.
Sad to see him (probably) leave but not sure where he would play if he stayed. Was surprised when the article mentioned he came up in August 2017, seems like he had been on the team much longer than that.
Yeah, it’s sad, but I personally like the way the outfield looks without Schwarber and Harper. So, it’s either Schwarber or Hoskins as DH and Hoskins is the one in free agency
Im from the Philly area, that ship has been docked in the same spot nearly my entire life, some of my earliest memories of the city, driving past on a field trip or whatever, include seeing it and thinking something like “what a cool ship, I wonder what its story is”
It’s a real shame that after decades of trying no one has found any good use for it. I’m not exactly optimistic at this point, but I’d really love for it to somehow remain in Philly and be put to some kind of use, ideally as a museum, but I’d even accept condos, office space, whatever, as far as I’m concerned it’s as much of a Philly landmark at this point as the art museum, city hall, the liberty bell, etc.
