No surprise.

“I’m the victim! I’m so much the victim that if you don’t recognize it, I will discriminate against myself! Okay done, now that I’ve been discriminated against (by my own words), can we shoot the protestors like Palestinian children?”

This is yelling “Fire” in a crowded theater sort of criminal behaviour.

Always is. Same with the “BLM” arsonists being off duty cops.

Unrelated to the incident you're referring to, but during the 2020 wildfires here in oregon, proudboys and maga types were out searching the countryside for BLM activists. They'd heard via police scanners that BLM were setting up checkpoints and denying entry to fire-affected areas. Which was absolutely true - since that's what the Bureau of Land Management is supposed to do.

whatwhatwhatwhat,

I’ve heard “BLM Land” used as an example of affirmative action by an older family member. He scoffed at how ridiculous it was that there was land reserved for BLM and the blacks weren’t even using it.

Wonder if it ever occurred to him that the “BLM Land” had been there for decades, but the “Black Lives Matter” movement has only been around under that name in recent years.

SoylentBlake,

Before CHAZ or CHOP; before the east precinct abandoned their station at 4am when no one was around, fearing for their safety, we went around before the protests and kept finding, and then picking up and taking, a bunch of abandoned backpacks full of bricks on the side of the road.

Motherfuckers man. Sadists. Serial killers. Amongst the highest paid people in the state, making up to 4 times what our state senators get paid, and these bitch ass cops get spooked by a yellow umbrella, then proceed to war crime, i mean, tear gas an entire neighborhood, a good hundred square miles, every night for two weeks, the mayor, city council, etc promising to stop everyday but nooooope.

Class traitors.

Getting a hall pass on their cruelty from the “elite” doesn’t mean you’ll ever be anything more than a servant to them. It’s a private party, and we aren’t invited. The American dream is a dream because you gotta be unconscious to believe it.

And God I love telling them that. I know it broke thru a few of them. You can see the veil lift in their eyes, and the despair they feel behind it. And they deserve that despair

It just turns my stomach so bad that all of this started because a fascist movement demonized "evil jews", which lead to the creation of a country that wants to claim they are the will of Judaism... and that country became evil genocidal fascists...

Shocking

I really do think that in hindsight we are going to discover that these kids are falling victim to a bunch of right wing provocateurs who are trying to inject anti-zionist messaging into a legitimate human rights protest. I think this is why a lot of people have been uncomfortable with the whole thing tbh.

kescusay,
@kescusay@lemmy.world avatar

That is absolutely happening. Lots of that crap from Russia and China, too.

Doesn’t excuse Israel’s horrific behavior, of course.

archomrade,

I’m confused. Do you mean antisemitic instead of anti-zionist?

Tryptaminev,

Zionism is the ideological backbone to the human rights issue. It is the core of the Zionist ideology to “settle” aka steal the land from the Palestinians living their, based on an ethnic superiority and Jewish “bloodright” to the land. It is the same ideology as “Blut und Boden” by the Nazis with which they justified their “Lebensraum” expansion into Eastern Europe.

It is particularly insane as the Palestinians are ethnically Semites. They are the descendants of the “OG Jews”, they are the descendants of the “OG Christians” and they “OG Muslims”. There is Palestinian families that can trace back their ancestry 1500 years ago.

The people never left the land. Just most of them converted to Christianity and later Islam. So Zionism is at the core the idea, that the Cousin that left the land long time ago is entitled to come back and murder his Cousins that never left, in order to take the land away from them.

It is crucial to understand that Zionism is a fascist and genocidal ideology that was fueled and takes support form the white antisemitism of hundreds of years and in particular the German, European and American antisemitism of the 20th century. It is crucial to understand that anti-zionism has nothing to do with antisemitism. This is an accusation made by zionists to achieve three goals:

  1. Delegitimize any criticism of Zionism, especially Jewish criticism of Zionism
  2. Distract from actual antisemitism by white supremacists, Nazis and other fascists that form an useful alliance with the Zionists.
  3. Muddy the discussion around Zionism and antisemitism to allow for crackdown on progressive Jews while building up antisemitism so that Jews cannot feel safe. By destroying the safety of Jews outside Israel, Israel is justifying its existence as the only place were Jews would be safe behind the walls of a brutal military oppression.

Especially the third point is crucial to understand in the context of October 7. Because it proved this core justification of the Zionist ideology to be a big fucking lie.

bartolomeo, to politics in Video footage reveals ‘Kill the Jews’ remark used to explain police intervention made by pro-Israel counterprotester in provocation.

The video footage, originally posted on X by Working Mass, a Democratic Socialists of America media outlet covering Massachusetts, reveals two Jewish students holding an Israeli flag shouted the “Kill the Jews” after pro-Palestine demonstrators conducted a “mic check” — a call and response technique used to focus attention on an organizer.

The two pro-Israel counter protesters then asked the pro-Palestinian demonstrators if they agreed, saying “anybody on board; anybody for that?” The crowd of pro-Palestine protesters immediately started shouting and booing over them.

“You just chanted for it,” the pro-Israel counter protesters can be heard saying.

Gaslighting is psychological abuse and is used frequently in hasbara.

dylanmorgan, to politics in Video footage reveals ‘Kill the Jews’ remark used to explain police intervention made by pro-Israel counterprotester in provocation.

I am shocked, SHOCKED that hasbarists are using agents provocateur and trying make the protesters look bad.

I will tell you something about the Holocaust. It would be nice to believe that people who have undergone suffering have been purified by suffering. But it’s the opposite, it makes them worse. It corrupts. There is something in suffering that creates a kind of egoism. And when such monstrous things have happened to your people, you feel nothing can be compared to it. You get a moral “power of attorney”, a permit to do anything you want – because nothing can compare to what has happened to us. This is a moral immunity which is very clearly felt in Israel.

Uri Avery, speaking after the IDF’s massacre at Sabra and Shatila

Uri was a Zionist poster child - his immediate family fled to (then mandatory Palestine) after the Nazis took power; every other relative who stayed in Germany was murdered in the Holocaust. During his youth in 1938 he joined the Zionist terrorist group Irgun, in reaction to the first execution of a Jew for the attempted bombing of an Arab bus. He remained a member in the group until partway through most of WWII, when he leaned into nationalism publishing far-right news articles and opinion pieces.

The turning point for Uri was his time in the IDF during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, and the ethnic cleansing and displacement that occurred, percolating through decades of his life until during the 1982 Lebanon War he became the first Israeli to meet Yasser Arafat for an interview.

bartolomeo,

Not so fun fact about Ariel Sharon and the massacre at Sabra and Shatila:

As Minister of Defense, he directed the 1982 Lebanon War. An official enquiry found that he bore “personal responsibility” for the Sabra and Shatila massacre of Palestinian refugees, for which he became known as the “Butcher of Beirut” among Arabs.

He later became the 11th prime minister of Israel.

roguetrick, to politics in Video footage reveals ‘Kill the Jews’ remark used to explain police intervention made by pro-Israel counterprotester in provocation.

In response to questions regarding the video footage and reports that pro-Israel counter protesters said the statement, Vice President for Communications Renata Nyul said the “fact that the phrase ‘Kill the Jews’ was shouted on our campus is not in dispute.”

“The Boston Globe, a trusted news organization, reported it as fact. There is also substantial video evidence. Any suggestion that repulsive antisemitic comments are sometimes acceptable depending on the context is reprehensible. That language has no place on any university campus,” Nyul said.

Well, that guy doesn’t want anybody to doubt he’s a fucking jackboot.
