I can't help but think that this kind of thing really highlights how good Bottas and Rubens (in particular) were, sure they were outshone to a degree by their team mates but more often than not they were competitive and consistent.
I think you’re partly correct, but I’d say it’s more about the mindset than the skill. Bottas talked about it in some interview. You give it absolutely everything you have and nail that race to perfection, and still Hamilton would find another tenth per lap somehow. I assume it was the same with Schumi and now with Verstappen. Takes a tough mind to deal with this for an extended period of time and not get crushed. Checo has shown that on his day he absolutely has the skill to easily get P2 with that car, but it seems Max is living in his head rent free and that’s not how you find your rhythm.
it emerges Marko is being probed by Red Bull GmbH in relation to leaked information, which could be separate from the anonymous sharing of alleged evidence from the investigation into Horner.
Emphasis mine, but this is the only meat from a filler article which says not very much. The absolute state of f1 journalism…
Why Mercedes is so adamant its trick wing is legal? It’s legal.
Mercedes have worked with FIA to make sure they’re on the right side of the rules. That doesn’t mean there won’t be a TD to close the loophole, but the wing is legal for now.
Here’s a year old article referencing a 2026 entry I found after 30 seconds of Googling. One would think the season Andretti was wanting to compete would have come up in their applications.
It never seemed like Steiner and Gene Haas had the best relationship, and a fallout was eventually inevitable.
I’m not convinced that Haas will fare better now with its strategic shift to be more cost-efficient instead of investing more. In a sport that essentially demands substantial financial backing for success, this appears quite concerning.
Alternatively, we might be misjudging, and they could be gearing up for an entry from Ford or Andretti, with Steiner possibly in their way.
Unless the team starts hemorrhaging money, Gene has no reason to sell. The whole team is a marketing exercise for Haas automation. And Gene is more than happy to be a backmarker.
I never really liked his attitude on TV when races were discussed. Typically Dutch to consider themselves the expert after racing one season, and then provide the weirdest takes saying they know the drivers very well. As a Dutch person myself I hope I’m allowed to say that.
I didn’t follow F1 so closely 10 years ago so I wasn’t fully aware of the circumstances. I’m not happy about the retirement; this probably means he will have to stick his face around more often to stay relevant.
