This is very exciting! Excited to see how extensive the renovations will be (ex, will they be like walnut st with its grade separated buike lanes, or will it be like 6th st with jersey barriers/flexi posts)
Very exciting news! Its been a really exciting past few days nationwide with all the rail corridor announcements & im excited that the wisconsin routes were also selected. I really like the approach of branching the hiawatha to green bay and madison… it should really make milwaukee a bit of a (regional) train hub
The timeline is unfortunate, but it’ll be so good once it finally happens. I swear, you could take the PurpleLine in the middle of the night on a Sunday and the bus will still be packed halfway through the route. It’s crazy popular and definitely needs the upgrade.
I always enjoyed the aesthetics of this building… i know most find it ugly/bland, but ive always enjoyed the large brick massing… understandable to see it go considering its condition though.
I just hope whatever they replace this with is of the same (or greater) density… I feel like this site deserves way more love than a generic 5/1 or a suburban 4 floor office can provide. The building is currently 11 floors, i would personally like to see (at a minimum) an 11 floor structure take its place.
I appreciate the focus on stormwater contamination, but they make the renders look like a park, which i feel is extremely disingenuous…
There is similar infrastructure under the marquette interchange, which is an absolutely awful place to be… it is such a hostile environment that paths through it have big signs saying “watch for falling debris”.
I’m not sure what you mean. Rule 1 states I can only add context or description to the article title, and I used the convention I’ve seen on other articles posted here of putting the added parts in brackets. If I did not put Wisconsin and Governor in their spots, the title would be missing all context as to what was happening for readers outside of Wisconsin.
The link says Milwaukee so that implies Wisconsin. The rest of the context falls into place from there. People can also read the article and clearly see it’s about the Wisconsin Governor Evers.
I myself live in Wisconsin but I should remind you there is more to the world than America and some non-Americans may not make that connection so readily as they may not even know Milwaukee is a place.
@rasterweb I've been told that it's going to be a “lights out data center” so nobody is going to actually work there (beyond maybe some security guards). If this helps cover all of the money Mount Pleasant plowed into developing the site, that's a good thing.
