Remember a couple years ago how city council voted to spend a quarter billion dollars on widening 4km of strandherd for no reason? That was more than the whole ward paid in taxes for the year so every streetlight. Every bus. Every plow was paid for by wards who didn’t get what they need so barhaven and riverside shouth residents could sit in traffic of their own making. #ottawa
@Auxonic Venn diagram of people who don't want new builds to pay the costs for their infrastructure and who also want low taxes is a circle. If this development is happening, the costs have to be paid. The question, I guess, is by who and the answer cannot be "nobody."
The homebuilder association spokesperson seems to get it, but also seems to be arguing both ways.
