The between and is to end this summer, after 96 years. railways () wanted service to continue, but their partner () no longer seem interested. Hard to believe that the is interested in more long distance, , when stuff like this is allowed to happen

@Peternimmo I guess it's not a question of interest but of vehicle approval. Starting from August, they operate the new class 408 Velaro MS vehicles on the Amsterdam and Brussels services - they simply lack approval for Switzerland - even for the small border traffic to Basel SBB.

But yes, sad they didn't prepare for this during the vehicle order. It's definitely a great service and it's already sad it only runs once a day.

@lewd @Peternimmo This is also a matter of reliability. If there are no other 408s running to Basel, the return trip will always have to wait for the arriving train. And if the train goes kaputt, shenanigans ensue.

I believe Munich, which will be the new destination, will have regular 408 services, so this will work out better.
