Speaking of , there is yet another one:

I have already made a PR to add it to the Overlay Fact Sheet:
https://github.com/karlgroves/overlayfactsheet/pull/1189

As with other overlays, it makes WCAG/ADA promises, fails to fix stuff, replicates platform features (poorly) in CSS, and introduces WCAG violations just by adding it to a site.

Cool business model.

Did I mention this overlay vendor is a member of IAAP? Or at least it claims to be. It has the logo in its footer (sans alt text, of course).

But I cannot find Sidharth Nayyar, WebAbility, nor Techyweb Solutions.

Since I am not an IAAP member (because, you know, overlays), I cannot dig much further than the public site to confirm.

Per an IAAP rep (https://web-a11y.slack.com/archives/C0382G2EGKH/p1712594585705449):

“None of those orgs are members - having the team write and require them to remove our logo”

Which suggests all other logos on the page are also a lie.

Which seems on-brand for the overlay industry.

BlindAllDay,

@aardrian Can I get a Slack invite to the a11y channel pretty please, with an accessibility cherry on top that passes all WCAG AAA success criteria’s.

@BlindAllDay DM’d you.

@aardrian but does it violate user privacy? that's one of the most useful features that any self-respecting overlay must have

aardrian,
@aardrian@toot.cafe avatar

@hi_mayank I did not poke around, but I sure it follows in the footsteps of its brethren.

@hi_mayank@hachyderm.io avatar

@aardrian i also noticed some very strange typos on their website that make it look like a spam email

aardrian,
@aardrian@toot.cafe avatar

@hi_mayank Part of me thinks this was LLM-generated, but then part of me thinks the team / person behind it is a non-native English speaker.

@aardrian @hi_mayank Their “references” are all Italian brands, so I guess that’s a valid assumption. Funny enough, Barilla, which they have as a reference uses the AccessiWay overlay, which is (afaik) an AccessiBe rebrand. You know what, I think they have just copied the references from AccessiWay.

aardrian,
@aardrian@toot.cafe avatar

@yatil
Yeah, someone in the Slack noted a bunch was copied from that site (including images), so it may be copy/pasta scam.

@aardrian @hi_mayank It’s a shit scam sandwich. 😞

@yatil @aardrian @hi_mayank Also two of the testimonials contain ableist language.

aardrian,
@aardrian@toot.cafe avatar

@siblingpastry
Well, that seems on brand.

@hi_mayank @aardrian I'm no accessibility expert, but I wouldn't trust my accessibility on a company with this website and code.
