This is the PDF of the "Islamic Declaration on Global Climate Change". Islam is tap dancing around the fact that, Allah or not, they have to reduce their consumption to save the climate, this includes partnering with their old enemies.

Their problem is simple: The Quran is like any other fundamental book, it says one thing but also the opposite. The challenge for muslim scientists is that they have to hide the unpleasant verses condemning their partners to hell, while highlighting the verses pleading their cause.

Here is an example where they want all religions to unite against global warming:

3.5 We call on all groups to join us in collaboration, co-operation, and friendly competition in this endeavour, and we welcome the significant contributions taken by other faiths, as we can all be
winners in this race

So for this they invoke in their PDF a verse like: Qur’an 30: 41

Corruption has appeared on land and sea by what people’s own hands have wrought, that He may let them taste some consequences of their deeds, so that they may turn back.

Ok, why not? But the problem is that the next verses of the Quran, not mentioned in the PDF, condemn all other religions. Context is everything, the next few verses are all about us being punished

Here is 30:42:

Say, [O Muhammad], "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of those before. Most of them were associators [of others with Allah ].

And 30:43:

So direct your face toward the correct religion before a Day comes from Allah of which there is no repelling. That Day, they will be divided.

Allah doesn't like us very much, here is 30:44:

That He may reward those who have believed and done righteous deeds out of His bounty. Indeed, He does not like the disbelievers.

This is not the shiny tag team between religions that those guys would like to present. Allah and his Quran hates us. This helped the muslims to build some nationalism centuries ago, to federate against an enemy. But now? It stops them for achieving a global objective. On top of that the Quran teaches that the reward is in heaven, and life on earth should be hard, by design. So if you want to write an anti-ecological essay using the Quran you can do it, easily! And your arguments will be full supported by an infallible cosmic entity.
