They both have optional mouse support. It's just that #FreeBSD's mouse cursor is an actual graphical mouse pointer that moves pixel-wise, while #Linux's gpm provides a DOS-style text block cursor that moves character-wise.
It the very silliest bone to pick, I admit. I just thought it was neat.
