Apple with multiple . My 2Tb disk was getting for unknown reason.
does not show file sizes.
Tried using to clean disk. No change.
Massive 'system data' shown in storage menu 'about my mac'.
Only installed as free standing app NOT from (Apple Store!) using scan as administrator was able to find the 1) users with large video files 2) delete 'purgable space' presumably containing junk.
Can anyone justify Apple design?

@adingbatponder ah yes, local Time Machine and hidden snapshots that macOS won't let you know about.

Trouble with local Time Machine is that I can't see an obvious way to turn it off, so I'll eventually "run out" of disk, too. It sucks.

Apple Inc. could fix all of this, but I doubt they care. :o(

@yakkoj I think they are due to my setting backups to automatic but the TM external disks not being attached, so it makes a hidden snapshop. Toggling automatic to off seems to have effect of getting rid of them. But what a silly work-around! It should ask you 'Make snapshots when TM drive not accessible? Y/N'
