Yesterday a good friend of mine lent me his vintage Contax/Yashica mount 50mm f/1.7 Zeiss Planar lens (late 70’s early 80’d vintage?) I was shooting flowers in the Beaches district in Toronto. @Jgmeadows I have a blast sometimes using a Minolta 50mm f1.7 on my modern Sony. It only works in manual and I use a modern 35mm 1.8 more often for that reason. Still I love the pictures I get with the older lens.

It vignettes quite a bit, but the transitions from the center and outwards are extremely nice. I can imagine this being a superb lens for low-key portraits, or when you want to isolate a subject not only by the shallow depth of field.
