Either screwed up or they have something weird going on and activated the "Ghost Town" algorithm on their content feed 😆

I notice that for days there are actually zero new posts, and timeline seems like an iceberg.

Heard some frustrations by people who try to stand out on that platform.

Don't tie your fate to Bermuda Triangle proprietary platforms. Your dingy may be swallowed below the dark waves at any moment.

“Don't tie your fate to 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐝𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬.” - ☠️LOL

hemish,

@smallcircles A lot of people got their accounts locked, including me, recently and now they are asking to upload a government ID to activate it to "verify" that it's me.

@hemish

Wow 😮 yet one more reason its time for a federated open alternative.

@smallcircles Could be the case that most “thought leaders” on LinkedIn are taking a vacation? 🙃
In my opinion LinkedIn's “personalized” feed was always pretty bad, usually recommending 2+ weeks old content like event invitations. Switching to a time-based (“non-personalized“) was a huge improvement for me.

@jnv yes, interesting. This may be the case.

There was an article years ago with an analysis of the LinkedIn social graph that showed that there really wasn't much going on on the network except for a small number of highly "active nodes" and that the algorithms were specifically tuned to distribute their content as wide as possible to make LI seem interesting and alive.

Most people aren't on LI for the content feed full of platitudes. Their connections are a 'rolodex' of relationships is all.

team,

@smallcircles we stoped news on platforms like xing, linkedin and twitter some time ago - we are in favor of :-)

@team yes. I think it is esp. well-suited right now for the line of work you are in. The better choice, seems to me.

team,

@smallcircles we believe it is a bad deal to make marketing invest dependent on strangers.

eternaltyro,

@smallcircles what is a good alternative to form a decent business network of people that are not personal friends?

smallcircles,
@smallcircles@social.coop avatar

@eternaltyro it is a good question. There's a need for it, and frequent discussion on the by interested people. But these discussions get lost in timeline history immediately.

There used to be but this project is now archived.

If someone wants to start a project, then collecting a group of those interesting folks should be first, I think.

Places where the idea can be elaborated are on forum:

And on:

eternaltyro,

@smallcircles you know, after seeing the forum, I have an idea myself. To combat the mentality of technological solutionism, we need a digital "ethics and social impact review board". A platform where people go to get their ideas eviscerated by researchers, social science scholars, and humanities scholars.

smallcircles,

@eternaltyro yes, a good idea. I've done a lot of community work in the line of "humane technology" and, while technology may help connect people from across the globe and have them interact in ways that enrich their lives, the technology itself can only ever be supportive.

Approaches to building is should start with uncovering and addressing real Needs, and then keep these into focus as the technology evolves.

A socio-cultural --> socio-technological --> technical drilldown, never tech-first.
