Ended up getting a (cheap) multimeter just to see if it's the watch or just the charging cradle, and found out that:

• the watch does not reset when pressing the button for >10 seconds; next thing to test is full battery discharge to cause a hard reset
• the cradle is busted and does not put out 5V so I cannot charge the watch after the full battery discharge anyway

Yeah, this one goes back for a refund or a replacement.

Got a new cradle for free as a replacement for the broken one, and magically the PineTime started up and it's been working for a whole day.

Now I just need to set up the build so I can use different watch faces—because free software is about themes.

I just found it funny you said free software is about themes while GNOME app developers made a website specifically to tell people to stop theming.

@ebassi @nedrichards I had my #pinetime forgotten in a drawer for a long time.

Recently I gave it a try again and was amazed by the improvements in battery life when using the latest firmware (uptime over 15 days) and the lovely WatchMate companion app (available on Flathub).

I bought a more comfortable 20 mm nylon watch strap and now I'm using it daily.

Happy to read you are hacking it! There is still a lot of room for improvement, but it's amazing what it's been achieved already.

@ebassi See if you can get it replaced. I got one last year and even though I only used it for testing, it worked fine.
