@jeffpc I was playing around with ChatGPT and running some basic PHP and bash scripts through it and it did a surprisingly good job of cleaning them up a little bit or suggesting I run for loops or whatever instead of repetitive code
I’d certainly stay away from spicy autocomplete….err I mean AI… The IP related ambiguity of the output’s license alone is enough that (1) I don’t want to expose myself to the risks for my fun (open source) code, and (2) there’s no way in hell the legal department at work would like us uploading out Special Sauce to a 3rd party without a fancy contract.
@machias Ah ok. That's much saner... at least as sane as ChatGPT can be. As you can tell, I don't think very highly of the current generative AI hype :)
@machias Hmmm... I don't think it is a good tool for code review since in my book a code review requires intelligent and critical thought, but I can see it being a reasonable tool for code "consistification" suggestions. IOW, suggesting how to make your code look more like the existing code without any judgement on whether or not that is a good idea.
