@kev Oh I'm in complete agreement with you on this Kev. I can't count the amount of times I've had to say what thing or thingy are you talking about and yes they usually respond back with using the word thing again. Drives me nuts too. Try doing tech support with responses using the words thing or thingy. 😦
@kev You need to buy yourself a label maker, and label all of the devices that could possibly in in question in your house, and once that's complete, you'll have no problems like this.
> "Give me the that which is over that other that under that that over there"
French version (with some liberties) : "Passe moi le truc qui est sur le machin, près de l'autre bidule, le trucmuche là que tartempion m'a filé l'autre fois"
"truc", "machin", "bidule", "trucmuche", "tartempion" (for people), so much words for undefined things :blobfoxbongo:
And everybody understand what you mean, that's awesome.
@kev stupid etymological detail, "thing" coming from among others old norse "ting" (an assembly, a meeting or a cause) has gone full circle in Swedish.
"Sak" is both an "object" and a "cause" that apparently comes via more modern English to Swedish. And ting/dinge (in German) doesn't mean an object any more.
Will add a song in German that contains the word "dinge" as well to make you feel better about the word https://youtu.be/XLhQvgdXbgo
Don't know if that makes you feel better about it.
