Good grief... There's people out there saying that if I own books by particular authors then they wouldn't feel "safe" around me. That's fine by me - I don't feel safe around people who can't separate information sources from intention.

Are people really this childish now? I'm the big bad meanie because I read widely? I've no time for this nonsense any more and I won't pander to it. Grow up. If a bit of paper on a stranger's shelf is a problem, the real bad in the world is going to break you.

@LewisWorkshop Some people definitely are, I've run across a few. It was like every conversation was them setting traps, and waiting for me to give The Wrong Answer so they could dismiss everything I had to say, usually with some politically-charged invective.

It wasn't that we agreed on 99% of things but disagreed on a few minor points - they concentrated on the disagreement.

The world has become so incredibly polarised - the tool which was supposed to unite us only divided us more.
