When you had one or two streaming services that brought you most of the movies you wanted to watch, at sub $10/month, things looked fine. Now you need to subscribe to 10+ services to do that. So essentially we're back to where we started, but worse. Streaming has become Cable TV over IP with 600+ channels, but no-one offering them all in one convenient subscription. Progress?

mtheuvel,

@jwildeboer will we see a rise in bittorrent (or similar) again this year? Or, just be satisfied with whatever is free 2 air wherever you live and ignore the rest?

@jwildeboer I only subscribe to two, but that gives me enough to watch. I just live with not being able to watch some stuff, much like I did before we even had video rental. We live in an age of excess media.

@steevc And I am visiting my local library more often. They also offer CDs, DVDs, BluRays and digital access to newspapers and a movie portal with a lot of very good non-mainstream movies and shorts. All for 20€/yr :)
