jredlund,

When I clicked on a post using phanpy, I used to be able to click on replies and like, boost, or reply to them. Now if I want to do that I have to switch to the standard Mastodon desktop app. Is something broken?

@jredlund hi here. You can perform those actions by clicking on the timestamp or right-click (or long-press on touch devices) that'll show a menu containing those actions.

jredlund,

@cheeaun OK, that works. Not intuitive though. I wasn't following you. Was there an announcement about this?

@jredlund sorry there's no announcement for this change. Usually small changes are not announced. Thanks to your feedback, I can see the problem here so will be looking into this 🙇‍♂️

bertrand,

@cheeaun @jredlund is there a reason why tapping (on mobile) on a reply doesn't open the toot? Still works when clicking using the mouse (on desktop browser)
I find this change odd 🤔

@bertrand I assume you want to open the toot to see the action buttons too? The change should be consistent for both mobile and desktop; the difference would be ancestor toots (above "hero" too) are clickable, but descendants (replies under the "hero" toot) are not.

I'll continue experimenting and taking feedback 🙇‍♂️

bertrand,

@cheeaun ok, the change is consistent accross mobile and desktop, my browser cache did not update for my initial test.
I'm curious why you removed the click capability on descendants? I may want to see the action buttons or have a view centered on a specific reply and its own descendants (which are sometimes collapsed)

@bertrand
> want to see the action buttons
they are still accessible via the menu, which may be quicker. Loading a post in its own view fetches everything again.

> have a view centered on a specific reply and its own descendants
technically descendants show everything, only ancestors have "hidden" replies (especially on threads). For deeply-nested replies, the expand/collapse button now has additional "»" button that goes to the post, instead of the whole post being clickable.
