@shippychaos I also don't like books with faces on the cover or people in general. I think the books from the Elite Operatives series are the only ones I own with people on the cover. As an author, I don't like putting faces/people on the cover because I feel it becomes the default character for the reader, and I want them to make their own image of my character. Not some rando.
@superdavjer Yes! I appreciate that mindset so much. When you write about a character’s chocolate brown eyes I want to imagine them myself not have the cover dictate this for me.
I wonder if authors dislike readers conjuring their own impressions of their characters when they probably have something different in mind when they write them?

I’m not a fan of these cartoon art covers in general, but I think AI generated art is only going to intensify the spread of this digital drawing cover art by making it more accessible to new authors…
I mean, there are only so many stock photos available in the world (see attached)
@shippychaos@reginasbread Honestly impressed that Lee Winter has a better cover designer than Danielle Steel. I know the Danielle Steel books sell themselves on her name alone, but even so.
