Here's a question: if I have licensed some of my own writing under a Creative Commons license with a non-commercial aspect, am I still allowed to sell the writing?

@nantucketebooks As long as there are no other contributors, you can do whatever you want with your own work. You can release it under multiple licenses, public or personal, modify, distribute, sell, rent, etc.
The moment you accept any contributions from other people, they become co-authors and get a say about what can happen with the new work that includes their changes, though they can't undo the license on which it was already published.
