@vegetarianzombie For me personally, Twitter was horrendous, Mastodon is medium, and the other 2 haven't bothered me at all (other than being followed by fake accounts/porn accounts), but my follows are MUCH lower there.

Twitter I had about 60K. Shitload of trolls.

Here I have about 20K. A fair amount of trolls.

Threads, just under 3K. No trolls.

Bluesky, just under 1K. No trolls.

@GottaLaff Wow, that's really interesting. It'll be curious to see how Bluesky does know that they've opened the floodgates.

But that definitely checks out with Twitter. Even in my limited pre-Musk interactions, I found it a pretty toxic place.

Little doubt that your Mastodon following will also reach 60.000.

It takes time, but each follower results in more exposure which results in more followers.

@paulschoe On Twitter, I would mostly eliminate bad followers, it was easier. Here, it’s not as easy to go through them and vet, but I try to. @vegetarianzombie

The last straw for me was when I called out a group of scammers from Thailand who had invaded a New Hampshire interest group. They hacked my account, got it banned. Facebook didn't do any kind of review, effectively siding with the scammers.
