SwiftData doesn't support models with unique attributes if you sync them with iCloud which really sucks, tbh. Does anyone have a strategy for dealing with this?
@bigzaphod I have only been dabbling a bit with SwiftData in the autumn, and while I see what Apple wants to do with it here, I don’t think they’re there yet. “It’s not production-ready” is a sentence that’s starting to lose its meaning in the iOS community, so I’ll leave it at: SwiftData leaves too much to be desired for me to use it for anything slightly complicated.
@simonbs@bigzaphod this is the right answer even if iCloud core data has the same issue with unique constraints.
I’ve pushed ahead with SwiftData on a new app. I think it might be a mistake but realistically I think the app will get released after WWDC so I’m kinda hoping they sort things out or it might be worse trying to undo SwiftData next August. 😅
