A friend of mine wants some connected things in his house, like a doorbell with a camera. But he wants these things to be independent from their vendor. So if the vendor decides to shutdown their servers, this doorbell should still ring.
Where should we start looking?
@vasilis Home Assistant server and Zigbee/Matter compatible hardware. That way everything stays local and is locally controllable with no need to have an internet connection at all.
Home Assistant is a little nerdy, but totally worth it because you can really control every aspect of your smart home.
