Github is almost unusually slow now, with each page taking 3 - 5 seconds to load all their dynamic JavaScript to render everything.

Editing text is especially infuriating, since there is a pronounced lag between when you type and when characters show up on the screen.

I don't like the direction that the web is going.

Of course many people would blame me for running a ten year old computer, and still being on Mac OS Monterey, but I don't have the money for a new computer, and this one works fine with everything except the latest web bloat.

@ve7fim I have a fucking Ryzen 7950x and browsing code on GitHub is still slow as molasses

I don't understand how they can ignore all the usability research that shows how a non-responsive laggy site will make people hate them and drive their user base away. Are they that out of touch?

Or is that their goal?

I mean, this is the company that wants to put "AI" buttons on everything...
