So much of the new stuff feels like this. While I appreciate the goals of the efforts and all the people working hard on it, there’s so much that is incomplete and unrefined still that I find it discouraging when facing the task of trying to get back up to speed on Swift after 2+ years mostly out of action. Learning something that’s changing so fast and where new stuff is rolled out and made the current version to use before it’s finished. And complexity keeps increasing.
@schwa@GeekAndDad I have some hopes for it - and it seems like we’ve been trying to learn all the details while it’s been assembling, which has made it harder and with only partial knowledge. I’m trying to write down how it works to sort obit all out myself, with only partial success. Pretty much feeling I can’t trust my knowledge yet
@schwa@GeekAndDad I probably will, but feeling like I need to cobble examples to check my knowledge against the compiler first. Not trusting any intuitions at the moment.
@schwa@GeekAndDad my best bet for learning is from cookbook style examples. I find that a good starting point for me. I try a few and realize I don’t understand something and go explore.
