As a European, I had zero intuition for temperatures in Fahrenheit until I interacted with Americans on the Internet. That scale simply didn't exist for me. Fahrenheit is what Americans feel like, if you ask me...

@thor As a European myself, I agree, but reading about Fahrenheit so much I have to give it to them, that it is more precise for normal weather temperatures. Celsius doesn't always give you an answer to what jacket you should wear.

Zergling_man,

@thor I have seen burgers sincerely claiming that imperial is better because you can estimate it.

@Zergling_man @thor

Yes, makes more sense for day-to-day tasks. Basement nerds will prefer metric because like pegging it is optimal for theory.

Zergling_man,

@amerika @thor It's optimal for building things that won't fall down because someone forgot how many washing machines there are in a pothole.

    @Zergling_man @amerika Inconvenient in many cases, however, seeing as the rest of the world has moved to metric.

    @thor @Zergling_man

    It works better for day-to-day tasks, while metric is an "on paper" theory. Imperial units are the common law.

    @amerika @Zergling_man This is literally just because you live in a county that hasn't transitioned to metric. Live in Europe and your units will suddenly be the impractical ones.

    @Zergling_man Which is 100% about what you're used to. They don't think this stuff over much. There's very little pressure on them to do that.

    Zergling_man,

    @thor I only hope that during the collapse I don't have to coordinate any operations with burgers.

    @Zergling_man On the plus side, they do understand millimeters and grams quite well, if it's for guns and drugs...

    @thor @Zergling_man

    Gun powder and bullets are measured in grains if i remember it correctly 🤔

    @lonelyowl13 @Zergling_man I mean, it may historically have been, but not nowadays.
